Thank you all!
To sustain its projects, Casa de Peregrinos pursues funding and support from a variety of sources: government, businesses, churches, service organizations, social clubs, and individuals.
Government sources include the City of Las Cruces, Doña Ana County, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), for example. As a United Way agency, we also receive some funding from that organization. Casa de Peregrinos staff and board of directors spend considerable time researching and writing grants to such entities.
We depend heavily, as well, upon monetary donations from businesses, churches, and service organizations and social clubs. Also of great benefit are the growing donations from the generous residents of Las Cruces and Doña Ana County.
Much of the food we distribute comes from Roadrunner Food Bank, purchased at a reduced rate and sometimes given to us outright, and our Food Rescue Program, in which local grocery stores donate items they can no longer sell but are still safe to eat.
A BIG thank you to our Food Rescue partners: Walmart (Valley location), Walmart (Walton location, Target, Natural Grocers, Mountain View Market, Los Altos Ranch Market, and White Sands Missle Range. We also receive food donations from the following local produce companies: J & D Produce (Deming), Adams Produce (Hatch), Diaz Farm (Deming). Thank you!
We also benefit from food drives sponsored by organizations and private individuals in this area. Examples include school or business sponsored food drives, the annual Postal Carriers Food Drive, and other food drives, from backyard gardens and area farmers. We are grateful to you all!
