Estimates now suggest that, in this country, 45 million people spend a third of their post-tax income on food and still run out every month. In Southern New Mexico, that figure might even be closer to half for some. These are the people we see here at Casa de Peregrinos. Many of them waiting for food stamps or other benefits, others are looking for work or waiting for their first paycheck. Some are living in other circumstances that put them at risk of hunger.

Although many clients are from Las Cruces, we also supply food to several rural colonias in Doña Ana County. Because of the struggling economy, more and more families and individuals are coming to us for help.
